The Ultimate Athleticism Program
There's no denying that basketball is a game centered around athleticism and physical prowess. And I'd argue that basketball players as a whole are the best athletes on earth. In terms of pure strength and speed? Maybe not number one. But athleticism is so much more. Hundreds of qualities go into building an athlete that usually aren't caught by the naked eye: elasticity, relative strength at unique positions, movement efficiency and skill, curvilinear speed - the list could go on and on.
Since hoopers are realizing this more and more, performance training for hoopers is rapidly gaining popularity and relevancy. And at this point, I'd bet that 80% of basketball players are doing some sort of performance training. So, just doing something won't put you ahead anymore. Your training has to be calculated, well-planned, and all-around to get the best results. And the best thing about this program? You'll see enormous results in the standard measures of athleticism (vertical jump, linear speed, first step explosiveness, and more) while also training those micro-qualities and becoming an overall better mover. Imagine yourself, faster and more bouncy than ever, but also moving cleaner than ever. Every movement feels more effortless. Getting by your defenders is easier. The weird positions you catch yourself in defensively feel more comfortable. That's where the Ultimate Athleticism Program will take you. |
This won't just elevate your athleticism, either. In hoops, the best ability is availability, and if you're not healthy, fresh, and ready to play or train on a daily basis, you'll fall behind quickly. So whether you have a deep history of injuries or have been lucky enough to skirt around them for the most part, the Ultimate Athleticism Program is geared towards reducing the risk of injury as much as we possibly can on the court. Obviously, injuries will always be unavoidable, but significantly reducing the risk that they occur is a massive step in the right direction, and that's one of our primary goals.
It's challenging for sure. There's no question. But my goal is that you wake up daily, looking forward to the workouts, not dreading them. And because of this, every workout, every month, every exercise is a new challenge. There will be hundreds of things you've never done before. There will be times that you're frustrated. But you'll look back in 12-months and be astonished at how far you've come.
Are you ready for that feeling? Let's get to work.

Why this program?
Boost your athleticism: you'll walk out of each month feeling better and better about the basics (vertical jump, overall explosiveness, speed), but will also be making huge strides in the smaller micro-qualities that we usually don't measure, but ultimately make a major difference in how you move on the court! These are programmed in a way that is directly applicable to game and sport, so that every quality you boost, you'll see transfer on the court.
Injury reduction: become a healthier athlete and human being. Even if you take a weird fall, plant awkwardly, get in an uncomfortable situation, your chances for getting seriously hurt in these circumstances will oftentimes be significantly lower. Injuries and pain are inevitable, but we do our best to keep them out of your life and career.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the program organized? The entirety of the Ultimate Athleticism Program is 12 months long, done on a month-by-month basis. Each month, you'll receive a program for that phase, which will last four weeks. This will be five days per week (which is flexible), plus an optional active recovery day on the fifth. The program is meant to be extremely cohesive, meaning that each month builds perfectly on the previous, all the way up until the end of the training year.
What resources do I need? For this program, you will need a weight room. Not a crazy extensive one, but one with the basics. We understand that not every hooper will have access to one, but we strongly suggest that you do your best to invest in a membership or finding access! If not, we're working on a shorter non-weight room program coming in the next year.
What skill and competency level is it designed for? The UAP, like all of our other programs, is easy to manipulate based on your training age and athleticism level. It's designed to start off by building the foundations of basketball athleticism, and progress up from there. This is something that we found works well with beginners, of course, but also with more advanced athletes who have often never worked on the basics with things like full range of motion strength and control, foot and ankle function, isometric and oscillatory strength, and more. So don't get me wrong, the basics are not easy. In fact, many times they're the most challenging because we've skipped over them!
What's the training split? The split is lower body on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with upper body on Tuesday and Thursday. If you're unable to train 5 days per week, feel free to cut out the upper body days or consolidate them, which we teach you how to do in the program!
Can I combine the UAP with another Virtual Academy program? Yes! This can be combined with any of our skill programs, which are designed to go together simultaneously.
Can I do the program during my season? It's definitely possible, and that's why it was designed to be 12-months long and span the entire year. There is a full video explaining how to adjust the program in-season to not only maintain your gains, but continue to make strides even over the course of a long season. Ultimately, we need to continue training in-season as hoopers or we'll end up falling behind.
What if I've never lifted before? Cool. Absolutely no worries. Our advanced lifters will skip over some of the technical points and basics, while beginners will be able to train the foundational movement patterns with high attention to detail.
Please note that as with any resistance training program, there are inherent health and safety risks that accompany the completing the Ultimate Athleticism Program. By performing the program, you are agreeing that you have been screened by a medical professional to clear you for intense exercise, and that By Any Means, LLC is not liable for any health issues, injuries, or worse that come about. No information in the program is considered professional medical advice, this is strictly a blueprint for basketball players to safely train in the weight room.

I've been studying and coaching hoops athleticism for over 7 years now and have been blessed to work with hundreds of athletes in the weight room and on the court, building them up brick by brick. And despite all the content I've put out, I never wanted to release a full athleticism program until I knew it was time. Until I was fully confident that it would be incredibly effective for every hooper of every level. Now is that time.
