The story behind By Any Means Basketball. Where it started, what it became, and what we're building next.

The Founder

Led by Coleman Ayers.

Coleman first started By Any Means as a high schooler in 2015, simply trying to improve his own game. What began almost accidentally quickly grew into a mission to change the way basketball is taught.

Growing up in Washington, DC, one of the most competitive basketball areas in the world, Coleman was not a naturally gifted athlete. He earned every opportunity through consistent work and attention to detail.

Countless hours of training paired with deep research into how players improve led him to fall in love with the process. Discovering new methods. Applying them in real settings. Seeing the results in real games.

That curiosity attracted other high-level local athletes who wanted to train the same way, and word spread quickly. What started in one DC gym turned into clinics, then camps, then a global organization with locations across the U.S. and a network in more than fifty countries.

It was never about the sport. It was about how the sport is taught.

Today, Coleman leads a global team operating across seven training hubs, building pathways from youth all the way to the NBA and EuroLeague. He has coached and run educational programs in more than thirty-five countries, written two best-selling books on basketball development, and worked one-on-one with players, coaches, and entire organizations on every continent except Antarctica.

The work isn't slowing down. By Any Means continues to innovate at the intersection of research, technology, and culture in basketball, while staying rooted in the relationships and gyms that started it all.

What We Believe

A modern approach to an old game.

Basketball is still a young sport. Rather than recycling what worked in the past, we take a research-backed, modern approach to understanding how players actually learn, how environments shape behavior, and how the game is evolving.

Principle 01

Innovation

Research-first. Always evolving. We study how players actually learn and apply it in real gyms, not just in theory.

Principle 02

Community

Long relationships, not transactions. Athletes and coaches stay in our network for years. That trust is the engine.

Principle 03

Standard

The bar is excellence in every product. Every gym. Every program. Every coach who carries our name.
